Future uncertain for Team Vitality
Team Vitality are weighing up their options heading into the offseason with Andrea "Radosin" Radovanović set to continue his career with the French organization, while Yanis "Alpha54" Champenois and Alexandre "Kaydop" Courant will fight for their place on the starting roster. The team will explore the increasing pool of free agents in Europe with trials set to take place over the coming weeks for multiple domestic and international candidates.
Team Vitality ended RLCS 2021-22 ranked 8th in Europe
Kaydop joined Team Vitality back in January 2019 as a replacement for Philip "paschy90" Paschmeyer and took the organization to their first RLCS World Championship title a mere five months later. Alongside title-winning teammates Victor "Fairy Peak!" Locquet and Kyle "Scrub Killa" Robertson, he went onto achieve another 2nd place finish in RLCS Season 8 before overseeing a transition to a full French roster with the addition of current teammate Yanis "Alpha54" Champenois in early 2020. Throughout that year, Team Vitality remained a domestic giant achieving a 2nd place finish in RLCS Season 9 and another at the RLCS X Fall Major. However, the rise of Team BDS in this era proved to be a major hurdle for the French roster as they routinely fell short of beating the new kids on the block. Yet, Team Vitality had the last laugh in RLCS Season X when they defeated Team BDS during the RLCS X European Championship putting a major question mark on Team BDS’ era of dominance.
RLCS 2021-22 proved a far less lucrative season for Team Vitality as the roster did not win a single regional title and made only one appearance at a major LAN tournament. As a result, Team Vitality lost their powerhouse status in Europe and were forced into replacing Fairy Peak! with former Williams Resolve star Radosin at the end of the Winter Split. Despite this, the roster ultimately ended the season 8th in the RLCS EU Rankings and failed to qualify for the World Championship.
Both Alpha54 and Kaydop will be fighting for their place in the starting lineup over the coming weeks with Team Vitality focused on finding a new addition to the squad. Both domestic and international players are being considered as the organization has not ruled out a move beyond its national scene. However, there is a chance that the organization will give more time to the roster they formed in April and allow the players to build on some of the positive signs shown during the spring split. At any rate, the future remains uncertain for the lineup with potential for a major change to take place.
