Rezears and Rizex45 to form new roster

David "Rezears" Wünsch and Riccardo "Rizex45" Mazzotta are set to form a new project together heading into RLCS 2022-23. Long-time RLCS veteran Sandro "FreaKii." Holzwarth will join the project as a coach after announcing his retirement earlier this month.

Rizex45 joined Evil Geniuses in October 2021

Alongside teammates Leonardo "Catalysm" Christ Ramos and Ivan "ivn" Sabri, Rizex45 enjoyed a relatively successful RLCS 2021-22 qualifying for the winter major in Los Angeles. Yet, in July 2022, Evil Geniuses allowed Rizex45 to explore his options following the organization’s narrow failure to qualify for worlds. The German is now set to link up with fellow countryman and former BS+ Competition star Rezears who had a fairly quiet RLCS after making only one regional appearance. However, Rezears’ success in the 1s scene saw him make an appearance for HEET at Gamers8 where he blew expectations out of the water and made a stronger case for his talent.

Both players have agreed to bring on former Team Vitality and Veloce Esports player FreaKii as a coach for their new project. The RLCS veteran competed with Rezears on BS+ Competition during RLCS 2021-22 but decided to retire this month to pursue coaching and management in Rocket League Esports.

The project will be exploring many options over the coming weeks and has so far given a trial to Luis "LuiisP" Puente Peña. The Spaniard has yet to announce his situation with Natus Vincere but is exploring his options this offseason after the team went through a rather tumultuous split at the end of RLCS 2021-22. LuiisP is not the only player on the shortlist and will be competing with several other candidates in the near future.
