Soniqs look to Europe for new roster

Soniqs are looking across the Atlantic in pursuit of a new roster with the organization expected to sign Thomas "ThO" Binkhorst, Otto "Metsanauris" Kaipiainen and Mike "Mikeboy" Verkuijlen heading into RLCS 2022-23.

Since their entry into Rocket League Esports back in January 2020, Soniqs have been a familiar face in the North American RLCS with names such as Matthew "Satthew" Ackermann, Nathan "Shock" Frommelt and Raul "Roll Dizz" Diaz. During RLCS 2021-22, the organization was one of only a few throughout the season not to make a roster move. Soniqs competed with a team of Andrew "Andy" Nolan, Tristian "tcorrell" Correll and Anthony "ZPS" Marcello Perez where they managed to place 11th in the North American rankings but ultimately failed to challenge for any titles. With tcorrell expected to sign to Ghost Gaming after a two year stay with Soniqs and all remaining members of the RLCS 2021-22 roster pursuing other options, Soniqs have been exploring a change of region for the RLCS.

In recent days, the organization has targeted the newly formed roster of Metsanauris, ThO and Mikeboy who are expected to make regional events in Europe. Metsanauris was a key player on Endpoint last season, appearing at all four major LANs during RLCS 2021-22. The wily veteran is joined by Mikeboy and ThO who both made their breakthrough together back in 2018 on mCon Esports and have since teamed on many separate projects including their last organization, Solary. After entering free agency, ThO had announced that he would part ways with Mikeboy to solely pursue new projects with Ole "oaly" van Doorn but with oaly joining up with Archie "archie" Pickthall and Joris "Joreuz" Robben for RLCS 2022-23, that decision was reverted. Soniqs will be hoping for better fortune in the RLCS and that this new roster can challenge for major qualification in Europe.

The Soniqs roster for the upcoming season will consist of:

  • 🇫🇮 Otto "Metsanauris" Kaipiainen

  • 🇳🇱 Mike "Mikeboy" Verkuijlen

  • 🇳🇱 Thomas "ThO" Binkhorst
