sigms to join Tokyo Verdy

Ex-Hilltop Picnic player Isaac "sigms" Cooper is likely joining Tokyo Verdy Esports as their new third

When Itsuki "Maru" Fukuda left Tokyo Verdy Esports ahead of the RLCS 2021-22 Winter Split, Yukito "Kanra" Nishikawa played the Winter Split as a stand-in for the team, alongside Shogo "ReaLize" Ikeyama and Tenhou "Tenhow" Igushi. Now, with Kanra out, Tokyo Verdy looks to find a new third in sigms. The American living in Japan used to play on Hilltop Picnic, but recently left that roster. Although Hilltop Picnic haven’t been on the same level as Tokyo Verdy, Nimmt55 and DeToNator, they were the fourth team in the RLCS Asia-Pacific North ranking over the course of the Fall and Winter Split. With a move to Tokyo Verdy, sigms considerably increases his chances of playing at LAN events like the Spring Major and Worlds.

Tokyo Verdy Esports have been winning almost every event since joining the Japanese Rocket League scene. They didn’t lose a single series during the Fall Split in APAC North, until they played in the Fall Major in Stockholm, where they were out of their depth. Tokyo Verdy had a little more resistance from Nimmt55 and DeToNator in the Winter Split, as they came second in the first Regional and failed to qualify for the Winter Major in Los Angeles by just one goal. When it comes to RLCS points, though, the team is leading the region by a significant margin. Tokyo Verdy have gathered 1985 points ahead of the Spring Split, 445 more than DeToNator, the second team in the rankings. Tokyo Verdy’s goal for the rest of the season will be securing a chance to play at the World Championchips in Dallas this August.

The Tokyo Verdy Esports roster for the RLCS 2021-22 Spring Split is expected to consist of:

  • 🇯🇵 Shogo "ReaLize" Ikeyama

  • 🇯🇵 Tenhou "Tenhow" Igushi

  • 🇺🇸 Isaac "sigms" Cooper
