Solary set to sign Kaydop, Fairy Peak, & Chausette for RLCS 2022-23

After being replaced on Team Vitality and departing SMPR, three of Rocket League’s all-time greats are coming together to compete. Solary is looking to sign former three-time world champion Alexandre "Kaydop" Courant, his longtime teammate and fellow world champion Victor "Fairy Peak!" Locquet, and Dreamhack winner Thibault "Chausette45" Grzesiak. Alongside the three players, Solary is retaining Anthony "Azelios" B. as manager, who served the same role for the org’s previous iterations. Talks are deep, and sources report that the signing will be official once Team Vitality and Solary come to an agreement regarding the buyout of Kaydop’s contract.

This represents the end of yet another extremely successful chapter in Kaydop’s career, a resume that is often cited as the greatest in the esport’s young history. Under the Vitality name and alongside Fairy Peak, Kaydop added his third world title in Season 7 and an RLCS X European championship that saw Team Vitality upset regional favorite Team BDS. Despite this, there was a clear falloff in 2021-22, as Team Vitality only qualified for one RLCS LAN, failed to make playoffs in that LAN, and then sputtered out en route to an 8th place finish in Europe, the worst in the organization’s four-year RLCS run.

Fairy Peak was dropped by Team Vitality prior to the Spring Split in favor of Radosin, and the move to Solary will be his first pro action since February. In contrast, Chausette enjoyed a long, relatively successful season with SMPR in which he placed top four at the Fall Major, qualified 3-0 in the World Championship Wildcard, and placed 9th-12th in the 2021-22 World Championship. Easily the most successful of the three players in the past year, he’ll look to inject energy into the former Vitality duo and harness their veteran experience to return to the top.

For Solary, this is their fourth roster dating back to the Spring Split of RLCS X, the first of which included Chausette alongside Victor "Ferra" Francal and Maëllo "AztraL" Ernst. Most recently, they signed the trio of Ole "oaly." van Doorn, Mike "Mikeboy" Verkuijlen, and Thomas "ThO." Binkhorst, who showed promise when they finished top three in the first regional of Spring 2021-22 before bombing out in the final two tournaments. The organization has shown a clear desire to field a highly competitive roster, and this time, they’re hoping that bringing on some of Rocket League’s legends will do the job.

The Solary roster for RLCS 2022-23 is set to become:

  • 🇫🇷 Alexandre "Kaydop" Courant (player)

  • 🇫🇷 Victor "Fairy Peak!" Locquet (player)

  • 🇫🇷 Thibault "Chausette45" Grzesiak (player)

  • 🇫🇷 Anthony "Azelios" B. (manager)
