Pittsburgh Knights set to sign cheese

Pittsburgh Knights will round out their new roster with hot prospect Carlos "Cheese" Aguado who will link up with Gianluca "sosa" Petrozza and Jacob "jruss" Clarkson ahead of the Spring Split with Omar "ElOmarMaton" Alba set to depart the organization. This comes a month after mutually parting ways with Austin "AlphaKep" Kepner.

Having made only one main event since signing ElOmarMaton as a replacement for Josh "radoko." Ruiz Radtke back in October 2021, the Pittsburgh Knights project has struggled to get going. The team accrued 110 rankings points from their 9th-11th placement in the Fall Regional #3 but have since only managed one closed qualifier appearance which came in the Winter Regional #2. Ultimately, the team has struggled in the depths of North America’s open qualifiers, losing to lesser names on paper. Subsequently, AlphaKep, who had joined the organization in June 2021 as a replacement for Anthony ".ZPS" Marcello Perez, mutually departed the squad following their last open qualifier exit.

With Alphakep’s exit from the team, the organization decided to move ahead with a new core of sosa and jruss. Jruss had been playing on Manzana during the Winter Split after coming out of a ten month retirement period. Alongside this new core, the organization is set to bring in Cheese for the Spring Split after his own departure from Gentlemen on March 4th. Cheese made his debut in the RLCS during Fall Regional #1 on Integrity Esports alongside Samuel "NoMansion" Good and Josh "blaze." Demer. He has since made one more appearance in the RLCS during the Winter Regional #2 this time on Gentlemen with Andrew "kayex" Claudio in place of blaze. With many successful open qualifier runs, Cheese is a growing talent in North America and has proven himself as a player in the qualifier environment. He will gain much needed experience playing alongside long-time bubble scene veterans sosa and jruss under a professional organization. With this new roster, the Pittsburgh Knights will be hoping for a smoother ride when it comes to main event qualification and could find themselves breaching the top 16 once again.

The Pittsburgh Knights roster for the Spring Split is set to consist of:

  • 🇺🇸 Carlos "Cheese" Aguado

  • 🇨🇦 Gianluca "sosa" Petrozza

  • 🇺🇸 Jacob "jruss" Clarkson

  • 🇺🇸 Landon "McLando" Mellor (coach)
