Ghost Gaming Targeting Hockser as a Replacement for Roll Dizz
Ghost Gaming have made XSET star Colby "hockser" James their primary target to play alongside Nathan "Shock" Frommelt and Hunter "LionBlaze" Woitas for the upcoming Spring Split. Raul "Roll Dizz" Diaz looks set to depart the team after a six month stay with the North American organization.
Despite finishing the Fall Split as one the ‘best of the rest’ in North America, Ghost Gaming’s faltering form throughout the Winter Split culminated in two group stage exits and a failure to make it out of the third Winter Regional closed qualifier. As a result, the organization placed 16th in the Winter Split rankings falling behind a number of their notable rivals including Susquehanna Soniqs, Torrent and Charlotte Phoenix. Subsequently, the organization is seeking a replacement for Roll Dizz who looks set to explore the option of retirement due to a growing portfolio in content creation and casting. Having once stepped down from the professional limelight to take on a coaching role for Susquehanna Soniqs, Roll Dizz is no stranger to life after professional play.
Ghost Gaming’s primary target is hockser who has quietly been plying his trade on XSET since October 2020. Over the last three days we were offered a glimpse into this new potential roster when Ghost Gaming participated in the Hercules Tires Invitational 2 hosted by Team Liquid. Containing several North American professional teams, the tournament was a fierce affair. It was Ghost Gaming that proved to be the surprise package of the competition as they were able to go on a run that saw them reach the grand finals beating the likes of Shopify Rebellion, Torrent and Rogue along the way. Rogue themselves recovered in the losers bracket and were then able to overcome Ghost Gaming in the finals 4-3. Nonetheless, this was a strong display from a roster participating with a trial player.
There are other options Ghost Gaming could explore in the foreseeable future. One such option is former Collegiate Rocket League star Tristan ".tristn" Roberts who lost his starting place on the eUnited roster in February but remains a reputable player in the scene.
