Gamers First expected to sign ARG
Gamers First are expected to sign the full-spanish roster of ARG featuring Marc "MaRc_By_8" Domingo Ruiz, Sergio "AtomiK" Pérez Cortés, Ivan "DORITO" Ruiz Jiménez and Javier "Kael" Ojeda heading into RLCS 2022-23.
This is only the second esports organization MaRc_By_8 has competed with outside of Spain
Gamers First was founded by former NFL safety Kenny Vaccaro in December 2021 and have established themselves in both Halo and Destiny 2. The organization recently brought in Lj "Renz" Browne, former co-founder of Kansas City Pioneers and a familiar face in the Rocket League scene, as its President. As a result, Gamers First became focused on targeting a high-profile European team in Rocket League Esports. ARG was seen as the ideal candidate combining experience, chemistry and star power and will likely fight for the major qualification in Europe. The team was formed around MaRc_By_8 earlier this month after many weeks of a Spanish roster shuffle including the likes of Cristian "crr" Fernandez who eventually signed for Complexity Gaming in North America. AtomiK was expected to explore other options, but crr’s decision to move across the Atlantic prompted a reversal of that decision with former Guild Esports player Dorito brought on as the final member of the roster.
MaRc_By_8 will be hoping to rekindle the form that saw him play a huge role in the era of Team BDS dominance during 2020 and 2021. The Spanish star was benched by Team BDS in April 2022 after the organization decided to build a French superteam. He was unable to find a move away during the Spring split and recently entered free agency following the end of RLCS 2021-22. MaRc_By_8’s former coach, Kael, has decided to join the roster heading into RLCS 2022-23 after departing Team BDS earlier this month. Kael has a long history with MaRc_By_8 having joined ARG back in its inception year of 2019 as a manager. ARG will be Gamers First’s first foray into European esports and represents an ambitious move from an up and coming American organization. Currently, the team is in North America familiarizing themselves with the organization, bootcamping for the new season and fulfilling media requirements for Gamers First.
