Luminosity Gaming set to enter Rocket League Esports

North American esports organization Luminosity Gaming are set to announce their entry into Rocket League Esports with the signing of Dylan "eekso" Pickering, Damian "Tox" Schäfer and Sergio "AtomiK" Pérez Cortés.

Much like Heroic, who are likely to sign Maurice "Yukeo" Weihs to take their roster international, Luminosity Gaming will profit from the rumoured breakdown between SK Gaming and its European roster with the addition of talismanic duo eekso and Tox. Early signs suggested that the duo would struggle to survive the offseason together, with the likes of Team Liquid, FC Barcelona, Guild Esports and Vodafone Giants all searching for new additions to their squads. Despite this, sticking as a duo always remained an option. Considering the team amassed a total of 260 RLCS points in the Fall Split, they made themselves a valuable proposition for organizations looking to enter the scene.

To play alongside the additions of eekso and Tox, Luminosity Gaming will also be acquiring highly touted Spanish star AtomiK from Vodafone Giants for an unreported buyout. AtomiK rose to fame alongside his Spanish counterparts Raúl "DmentZa" Palazuelos and Diego "VK-Sailen" Isla Serrano on Team Magnifico, and later Team Queso during RLCS Season X where they managed a top-four finish at the European Championship. This success saw them sign with one of Spain’s premier esports organizations, Vodafone Giants, but they did not manage more than a 12th-14th the entire Fall Split of RLCS 2021-22, placing an overall 14th on the European points table. As such, the long-term viability of the roster has been put into question, with AtomiK looking set to move on.

Who is Luminosity Gaming?

Luminosity Gaming is a well-known Canadian esports organization based out of Toronto with a presence in Valorant, Call of Duty, Overwatch and Fortnite. Owned by parent company Enthusiast Gaming, they operate the Seattle Serge and Vancouver Titan esport franchises and have garnered a global following by partnering with famous streamers such as Félix “xQc” Lengyel. Despite their North American origins, they have set a precedent in the past of signing, managing and cultivating teams from outside their home region, including the famous CS:GO Major-winning Brazilian lineup, featuring the likes of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and Marcelo "coldzera" David. This will be their first foray into Rocket League Esports.
