Guild Esports set to part ways following RLCS 2021-22
Despite their 2nd place finish at Gamers8 2022, Guild Esports is set to fully disband with all three players looking for tryouts elsewhere due to their contracts coming to an end this summer. Cristian "crr" Fernandez has set his sights on a new project involving Sergio "AtomiK" Pérez Cortés and Marc "MaRc_By_8." Domingo heading into the offseason.
Guild Esports ended RLCS 2021-22 ranked 13th in Europe with 760 points.
Guild Esports started RLCS 2021-22 with a full English roster consisting of David "Deevo" Morrow, Joseph "noly" Kidd and Dan "bluey." Bluett. During the Fall Split, poor performances saw Guild Esports fall behind a number of their key rivals. As a result, the team made changes in both the Winter and Spring Splits by bringing in crr and Ivan "Dorito" Ruiz Jiménez. Despite these changes, the team could not do better than 13th in the European RLCS rankings and subsequently failed to qualify for the RLCS 2021-22 World Championship. The team did make a significant appearance at Gamers8 2022 where they excelled in the crew battles format beating the likes of FaZe Clan, Luminosity and Complexity before finally losing to FURIA Esports in the Grand Finals. Against all odds the team earned themselves a hefty $300,000 with their 2nd place finish in what is set to be their final tournament together.
With free agency on the cards, crr has already begun exploring his options and has made contact with AtomiK and MaRc_By_8 who have formed a partnership after the demise of the Luminosity Gaming roster. Despite the fact that none of these players have played together at the professional level before, the team would represent a national superteam combining some of the best players Spain has to offer. If the project were to be finalized, it would be the first time MaRc_By_8 has played on a Spanish roster since 2019.
