Gen.G signing ApparentlyJack, noly, and Chronic as North American trio
After having previously demonstrated their interest in joining the RLCS, Gen.G are signing the trio of Jack "ApparentlyJack" Benton, Joseph "noly" Kidd, and Nick "Chronic" Iwanski to compete in North America.
Gen.G are among esports’ biggest international brands, and already have ground in the North American scene in recent years with teams in Valorant and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. According to sources, Gen.G have been looking to build a title-contending roster in North America for the past year, and they’ve finally found their team. After buying out the duo of ApparentlyJack and noly, including what sources close to Gen.G describe as an “extremely difficult” negotiation for ApparentlyJack, the duo is being brought over from Europe to team with Chronic. ApparentlyJack and noly are the seventh and eight players to transfer regions between RLCS season, following in the footsteps of Matthew "Drippay" Den-Kaat, Pierre "Turbopolsa" Silfver, and the Complexity Gaming (formerly True Neutral) roster of Facundo "Shad" Vallerino, Victor "Reysbull" Duran Parra, and Lautaro "ajg" Gusinsky, and Complexity’s newest addition Cristian "crr" Fernandez.
ApparentlyJack competed for Dignitas last year, helping them to win one Regional Event and finish 13th-16th at the World Championship. He’s among the best 1v1 players in the world, and was highlighted in the Friday Night Duels at the World Championship, playing against Brazilian star Danilo "kv1" Michelini. His new teammate noly moved from Guild Esports to Karmine Corp before the Spring Split, and his arrival turned a struggling roster into a top contender. Karmine Corp finished fourth in the Spring Major and 5th-8th at the World Championship where noly played an integral part in both events especially in the Spring Major. Chronic last played under the banner of Randoms, and participated in two RLCS events this past season.
The Gen.G roster for the upcoming season will consist of:
🇬🇧 Jack "ApparentlyJack" Benton
🇬🇧 Joseph "noly" Kidd
🇺🇸 Nick "Chronic" Iwanski
