ThO departs Heroic
Thomas “ThO” Binkhorst is set to depart Heroic following two official weeks with the Norwegian esports organization. Heroic will be exploring their options throughout the Christmas period.
Less than a month after joining Heroic, ThO is set to be replaced
ThO formed The Flying Dutchman for the RLCS 2021-22 Fall Split alongside teammates Jos “ViolentPanda” van Meurs and Ole “Oaly” van Doorn. The dutch trio were showing early signs of potential having achieved a strong 5th-8th finish in the second Regional Event of the Fall Split where they lost to a resurgent Team Vitality 0-4. Despite being the final team not signed to an organization in Europe, photos surfaced from the squad in early November suggesting that they had found home and were bootcamping together. This home turned out to be Heroic, who announced their entry into Rocket League on November 15th in anticipation for the third Regional Event. With an outside chance of making the Stockholm Major, Heroic needed a strong performance in the final regional but were unceremoniously knocked out, having lost all three games in the swiss stage. They ended the split with 300 RLCS ranking points, 12th in the European standings.
Currently, ThO is planning to try out players alongside Raúl “Dmentza '' Palazuelos Villarraga, whose rumoured departure from Vodafone Giants is soon to be announced. Despite this, there are a wealth of other options available to the Dutch player, with one or two organizations seeking his signature. Maurice “Yukeo” Weihs and Nelson “Virtuoso” Laskoone have also shown interest in bringing ThO on to be the last puzzle piece to their roster.
Heroic’s search for a new player remains in its infancy with the squad having to decide where to take the project, but considering the general lack of depth in the Dutch talent pool, an international move could be on the cards. Nonetheless, with Maarten “Oscillon” Van Zee being moved to the bench by Rix.GG, early signs suggest that he has become the primary target for the Dutch lineup heading into the winter season.
