Soniqs set to part ways with ZPS
With their season having come to an end following the final RLCS 2021-22 regional, Soniqs are looking to make changes heading into the offseason by parting ways with Anthony "ZPS" Marcello Perez.
ZPS will depart Soniqs after a 9-month stay with the organization
ZPS joined the organization back in September 2021 alongside Andrew "Andy" Nolan as part of an offseason rebuild following the departures of Nathan "Shock" Frommelt and Raul "Roll Dizz" Diaz. Initial results for the squad in RLCS 2021-22 were mixed with the team failing to make it out of the closed qualifiers during the Fall Regional Event #3. Despite this, Soniqs kept faith in their lineup and for the remainder of the season the team managed to qualify for all six available regional events. The roster achieved its highest placement in the RLCS with a 7th-8th in the Spring Regional Event #2 and were just two games away from qualifying for the Gamers Without Borders 2022 Finals a mere three days later. Regardless, the organization looks set to explore its options over the coming months.
The organization has a number of names on its shortlist and has already begun early tryouts to determine a replacement for ZPS. The team recently played with Jackson "ayjacks" Carter in the Seasonal Shootout: Season 9 Premier League after he mutually agreed to part ways with eUnited. The squad has also scrimmed with Austin "AlphaKep" Kepner and Nick "Chronic" Iwanski in recent days and other options like Fernando "Fefe" Huizar remain on the table. While the offseason is only in its infancy for teams who failed to qualify for the final two events of the RLCS 2021-22 season, Soniqs are looking to get the ball rolling quickly.
