SK Gaming’s roster to leave the organization
The current roster of Maurice "Yukeo" Weihs, Damian "Tox" Schäfer, and Dylan "eekso" Pickering will be leaving SK Gaming, according to Shift sources.
eekso, Yukeo, and Tox will be looking for another organization to represent
SK Gaming aren’t looking to leave Rocket League esports entirely: they’re in talks with other rosters to stay a part of the RLCS. Whether we will see SK Gaming back ahead of the Winter Split already, remains unclear.
The players, as well as coach Nicolai "Snaski" Vistesen Andersen, are parting ways with the organization after the RLCS 2021-2022 Fall Split. Internal issues with SK Gaming made the squad go their own way, and they will be looking for a new organisation to represent for the remaining Splits of RLCS 2021-2022 and beyond. Whether the roster will stay the same might not yet be set in stone. Make sure to follow ShiftRLE on Twitter for any updates, roster moves, and rumours.
SK Gaming’s RLCS journey so far
At the start of Rocket League esports, in 2015, the German organization signed a team with - most notably - Joni "JZR" Humaloja, then known as JHZER. However, the team disbanded before the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) came into being. It would take more than five years for SK Gaming to return to Rocket League, with the signing of Aether.
Aether (Yukeo, Tox, eekso) formed ahead of the RLCS X Spring Split, and immediately showed their worth by making the top eight in the first Regional Event, and even getting second place in the third Regional. With those results, they qualified for the European Spring Major, and caught the attention of SK Gaming. The Spring Major became the first event they played under the SK banner, and a run through the Playoffs that stopped just shy of the Grand Finals was a great result for the newly signed team.
RLCS Season 2021-2022 has been somewhat less successful for the roster, but they still managed to qualify for every event, and make it to the Playoffs of the BMW Rocket League Open. The third Regional Event is still to be played, and could be the last event this roster plays for SK Gaming.
Shift thinks: Yukeo, Tox, and eekso form a great team that should be aiming for the Playoffs every time, and they deserve an organization to support them. SK Gaming wasn’t the right organization for them, but that shouldn’t stop them from leaving their mark on the RLCS in the (near) future.
