Pittsburgh Knights moving forward with core of Sosa, JRuss
To much disappointment, the Pittsburgh Knights have only qualified for a regional event once (Fall Classic — Fall Regional #3) during the RLCS 2021-22 season so far. These struggles have brought frustration to the players, management, and fans of the team alike. A change was eventually destined to be made and it appears now is the time for it to be done.
From sources close to the team, the organization is honed in on signing JRuss to pair with Sosa heading into the Spring Split. With this, AlphaKep and ElOmarMaton are not guaranteed to round out the roster as a third. Omar is technically the only player PK has trialed with, but more tryouts will be happening after the regional is over. AlphaKep’s next destination is currently uncertain.
JRuss formerly played for the Susquehanna Soniqs in RLCS X before his retirement, but recently played for the Manzana team alongside Luke and Pollo (Pollo has left as of February 15th). JRuss was considered a highly touted prospect before he retired, but with a resurgence in motivation and his play in 6Mans, a handful of teams have been interested in the player, with Pittsburgh being in the front runners.
During his time with the Soniqs in RLCS X, JRuss averaged 0.74 goals, 0.50 assists, and a 0.99 player rating while participating in 62.14% of the team’s goals.
